Napoleon Theme Park

How might a history-themed park help people learn and/or appreciate history?
A history theme park can help people learn and appreciate history.  I think this is true and it is a great idea.  Theme parks usually attract kids, but this theme park, I think it would attract adults as well because of the Napoleon idea.  When people visit this theme park, they usually take the theme park map for a guide around the park.  In this Napoleon theme park, each ride are named after a historical term or event during Napoleon's time so people will get an insight of the events during that time and eventually, they will remember some ride names/ event names by the time they leave the park.  I assume this there will be random tid-bits of information about Napoleon Bonaparte around the park so people could see, read, and benefit from.

You could visit an article on this theme park  HERE

Courage Developing : Yes or No

Is courage something you are born with or something you can develop? You might wonder why some people are brave, out going, rowdy and why others just shy away from others, keep quiet and stay in their little corner.  The factor that determines these behaviors is your level of courage.  Some people are born in the environment where people encourage them to do different things, to try new things.  Kids born in these kind of environment will become naturally courageous as they get older.  Kids who are in the environment where people does only the basic stuff, never try new things will be scared to try new things therefore their level of courage will be low.  Now, if you know yourself and you classify yourself as a not so courageous person, you can develop it.  Courage is something you can develop regardless of age, gender or nationality.  If you have the heart to do it, you can.  There are many different ways to developing courage but the most important piece is to believe in yourself, be confident.  When you believe in yourself, you tend to think in the mindset that says "I can do it".  Just this simple idea can make a big chance.  If you practice courage on a daily basis, you would become stronger and stronger at it.  Some easy things that you could do on a daily basis are participating in class activities, asking a question when you dont understand, offering help and standing up for yourself or others when you know you need too.  You could try and challenge yourself by doing the things you have never done before like bungee jumping or surfing.  There are many ways to practice courage and develop them.  Why not start now? Remember, the key is to believe in yourself.

Caring Citizen, ESLR : Community Service

Last Friday, we went to Father Ray's daycare center.  We did 2 things there which were playing with the kids and helping them organize their storage room.  At first I was a bit scared to approach the kids,  some of them seem very fragile and some of them just seem to be very wild in general.  However I did approach one girl, she was the only one I could approach.  Her name is Praew, she does not talk much, she only nods her head so I didn't know much about her, but her personality was definitely very playful and optimistic.  After a while of playing with the kids, we went to organize the storage room.  It was very tiring for me because it was very dark, hot and humid in there.  There were some people who could read thai and some who could not, I happened to be one of them who could read thai so I helped with reading the labels and putting items in the right place.  Some labels have no items which fit them, some items have no labels that fit them so it was pretty frustrating for me.  I could relate this trip to being a caring citizen; in my opinion, helping them organize their storage room and playing with the kids fits the "CARING" trait.  I feel like doing charity or community work is devoting your time to a good purpose so it shouldn't be a burden or be a forced situation, it also shows that you care about the kids, you want them to be happy and the way you did that is devoting your time to play with them.  Arranging their storage room for them also shows that you care about the place, you want it to be an organized place, therefore it would make it easier to get supplies.  I don't do charity world on a regular basis but I think I should start doing them now, it felt suprizingly nice, most importantly, it shows that you are a caring citizen.

Patriots or Terrorists

Patriots or terrorists?  I honestly cannot answer that, it is up to your own point of view.  Im my point of view, i think BOTH, this is regarding the Boston Tea Party.  I know it sounds very vague but if you think of it properly, there are really 2 sides to the story.  With the Boston Tea Party, the colonists just want their freedom because the British have obviously been very unfair to them, but the colonists have also involved violence to the issue which make them seem more like terrorists.  But thinking in the British point of view, they are the Mother Country.    They have the rights to control their colony but they have been unfair.  I will be comparing the issue regarding the Boston Tea Party to the issue about Southern Thailand.  Basically the people of Southern Thailand, mostly around the Pattani area wanted to separate form Thailand and have their own country because Pattani used to be an independent state, and also there were problems with hard line movements.  They bombed people, they shot random people, basically killing innocent people.  The main purpose of doing this to create an unrest situation in that area, hoping that the government would use force against them to attract international community attention.  The government has sent troops to those areas for the purpose of law enforcement, this act has improved the situation a bit but on a larger scale, the situation is critical.  With this case, i would say they are more of terrorists than patriots.  Compared to the past world, the modern world has been more violent so i will say i the past, they are just patriots but now in the modern world, they are more of terrorists.

Greetings from a flood victim

Hi! My name is Pim and Im in eight grade, attending RIS, Ruamrudee International School.  I live in Thailand, where it is hot and humid all year long but a flood has occurred recently.
Durring the beginning of October, a flood occurred and lasted to the end of November.  Because the flood was uncontrollable, our school has closed down durring mid of October and we returned by mid November.  Durring the time off, me and my family had evacuated to HuaHin, hoping for relaxation after the stressed we have received over the flood but I couldn't exactly relax.  We had online lessons and online homework to complete.  Many people were eager to return to school since they have received major stress over online lessons and homework. School was originally scheduled to resume by the end of October, then it was pushed back by about a week, then it was pushed FAR FAR back to the mid of November, then it was pushed forward to the 11th of November.  There were a whole lot of changes but school has finally resumed on mid November.  We were very happy because the returning of school marked the ending of online lessons and homework.  Nevertheless, our happiness soon disappeared when the make up schedule was finalized...  We had no more half days, some of our holidays were taken off, we had to come to school on a Saturday, but the worst of all, for 2 weeks straight, school hours were extended. School hours are from 7:00am - 3:25pm which is a big change to my schedules.  Now, Im basically dying from that schedule.  I have to wake up earlier and I have to stay longer at school.  I really hope these 2 weeks ends soon!

Floating Toilets

Because of the flood, people in some areas are forced to live with dirty water; therefore i believe that hygiene is the most important issue right now.  There have been many new inventions and products produced during this time focusing on the hygiene of the people and the water including EM ball, multi purpose spray, floating toilets etc.  In my opinion, the best product and the most useful one so far is the floating toilet.  Floating toilets have been distributed to flood-hit areas around Thailand and has been extremely useful.  Looking at another side, without floating toilets, majority of the people would be forced to release their waste into the water causing the water to be even more polluted than it already is.  With polluted water, diseases come.  With diseases, there is a huge possibility for the death rate relating to flood to increase dramatically.  For prevention, the floating toilet is invented.

Flood Crisis

It has been flooding very seriously in Thailand right now or what people call "Flood Crisis".  Many types of damages has been formed; speaking seriously it does affect the economy of the country.  28 of the provinces are affected, roughly about 4 million acres of the land.  12.5% of the rice paddies have been damaged, leading to shortage of rice.  Not only are we short of rice, we are also short of water, food (mainly instant food) and sand bags as well.  Looking at the people as a whole, they have suffered from many types of diseases that comes with flood water; not only do they suffer from diseases, they suffer from stress as well.  Roughly about 10,938 businesses were affected and forced to halt their business.  This flooding case is the biggest case in Thailand for over 80 years. The flood is very serious therefore many people had to evacuate to somewhere safter, including me.  My house area, Don meaung is flooding loads therefore I was forced to evacuate like the rest of the people.  I have evacuated to Hua Hin, where it is safe and certainly dry.  Its not easy here though.  Loads of people have decided that Hua Hin was their destination for evacuation as well so the traffic is very heavy and water in super markets here have also disappeared.  This flood crisis is very scary and I hope it goes away soon.
