Flood Crisis

It has been flooding very seriously in Thailand right now or what people call "Flood Crisis".  Many types of damages has been formed; speaking seriously it does affect the economy of the country.  28 of the provinces are affected, roughly about 4 million acres of the land.  12.5% of the rice paddies have been damaged, leading to shortage of rice.  Not only are we short of rice, we are also short of water, food (mainly instant food) and sand bags as well.  Looking at the people as a whole, they have suffered from many types of diseases that comes with flood water; not only do they suffer from diseases, they suffer from stress as well.  Roughly about 10,938 businesses were affected and forced to halt their business.  This flooding case is the biggest case in Thailand for over 80 years. The flood is very serious therefore many people had to evacuate to somewhere safter, including me.  My house area, Don meaung is flooding loads therefore I was forced to evacuate like the rest of the people.  I have evacuated to Hua Hin, where it is safe and certainly dry.  Its not easy here though.  Loads of people have decided that Hua Hin was their destination for evacuation as well so the traffic is very heavy and water in super markets here have also disappeared.  This flood crisis is very scary and I hope it goes away soon.

  1. Pim, I agree that the flood situation is scary. You mention very specific issues and figures related to health, economy, agriculture, consumerism. Is there a particular aspect of the flooding that is most scary to you? Which one? Why? This writing seems more choppy than how you usually write. Did you keep sentence fluency in mind? Do you feel like the post reflects a variety of correctly punctuated sentences? Thanks for posting.

  2. I agree with your opinion about how the flood effects Thailand's economy and that this year's flood situations if the most scariest in the past years. I also heard that many people are now staying at Hua hin. I hope the flood goes away soon too.
